#5 Cold Showers August 1st -Sept1

The idea here is pretty self explanatory, everytime I shower start off at a comfortable temperature then slowly and continually cool down the water until it is just cold water coming out. Its just as simple as that. I don’t have any special times I need to do it. Most of the times I shower after a workout or before bed at night if I work the next morning.

I wanted to add this into my life because I have heard of the benefits of having cold water on the body. I don’t necessarily know what they are, but I will say that since I have started switching over to cold showers I feel energized and my body feels calm (not in a spiritual sense) but it feels calm in a way that I am not sweating and is very relaxed. I usually burn pretty hot and I am more likely to be sweating than be cold. So having a cold shower just feels really good.

I honestly can’t believe I didn’t start doing this years ago. it really is simple and takes no more effort than turning your shower dial and taking long deep breathes. The other really good thing about having cold showers is it forces me to be present and control my breathing.

I was told one time that “you will find out a persons true character when they are Cold, Tired or Hungry”……..well the water temperature is getting colder where I live (northern Canada) so lets just see how committed I am to cold showers when the water is liquid icicles in the fall and winter……But I am hoping I have the mental fortitude to stick it out when it starts getting really cold…..because it sure is a positive thing in my life.

take care everyone and start small.
